Josie was at a loss. What should she try next to get these two lost souls to come together?
She'd been on earth three days and made very little progress.
Josie stared at the locked connecting door. Then her glance lit on D.J.'s full suitcase. She smiled.
Drastic measures seemed to be called for in this instance. Raphael wouldn't let her stay on earth forever. D.J. might be madbut, in the end, she'd understand Josie had known what was best for her all along.
With a giggle, the angel disappeared.

Chris unloaded the weapon, as familiar with the process as he was with putting on his socks. He'd taken gun safety courses along with martial arts. He practiced on a firing range at least twice a month and knew guns as well as knew karate. With every step toward self-defense, Chris had taken another step away from the terror haunting his dreams. He had been helpless once, but he would never be that way again.
After placing the weapon beneath his socks in a drawer he put the clip in his pocket. Then he tried to work. But the sound of D.J.'s angry voice in the other room interrupted his train of thought. He considered knocking on the connecting door, but when he heard no further outbursts Chris returned to work.
Five minutes spent staring at the blinking cursor on his computer was enough for Chris. He switched off the machine with a curse. He could think of nothing but his situationand D.J.
